June 28

There are horse trails and lots of walking trails around the park. We found a pioneer cemetery. An 11 year old boy was buried here in 1822. This is within walking distance of our RV.

June 27 2497

It was just to hot in SC. We went to Forest Lake south of Winston-Salem NC. We love this campground. We will be here until July 7th. Wonderful adult lounge, a chapel, a lake, mini golf, multiple laundry rooms and large sites. I got the best. We unhooked the car and I drove to find a site. I called Jon to tell him where to come and 6 RV's desended on me for my spot. I won.

June 26

We drove to Newberry SC to meet my sister Pam who drove up from Charleston. Whata cute little town. We had a 3 hour lunch at Main Street Grill. Great place, large menu. We were the last to leave. Can you believe they close at 3pm on Saturday? So, we drove to San Jose Mexican Restaurant and had drinks for another 2 hours.

I loved the beautiful red trees, Pam said it was a bottle bush, in front of the library.

Great day.

June 25 Carolina Landing

Carolina Landing could be a wonderful campground. It needs a lot of work. The roads are not big rig friendly. Most sites are not big rig friendly. The three rows as you enter the park are new and best for large motorhomes.

June 24 Clemson

We drove about 15 miles to Clemson. What a great little town.

June 23 2273

Short trip today from Atlanta to Fairplay SC. I have never seen so many lakes. Carolina Landing is an old campground with a lot of small sites thatwe would never fit in. Most of these are at the lake.
It is hot and humid, the last time we do the south in the summer. I say that as we just confirmed to come back to Red Bay Aug 29, 2011 for the RV repair.

June 21

Aaron and Jeff left for Boy Scout camp for a week and Dani and Julia spent the day at our campground. It has been so nice to have time with Julia and Aaron. We will see them later in the summer at Gatlinberg TN.

June 20 Fathers Day

We had dinner with Danielle, Jeff, Aaron and Julia last night at a nearby pizza place.
Sunday Jon got to spend Father's Day with the grandchildren. We had a big steak cookout. Sandi remembered the camera but forgot the battery. No pictures. We went shopping and had a great HOT day.

June 19 2113

We spent 3 nights in Red Bay. We discovered Jack's a fast food restaurant that serves a really great breakfast. We are grateful for Tiffin, at least they are still in business and are very helpful. We made a good choice with our Allegro Bus.

We got up early Sat. morning and left for Atlanta. We drove thru Alabama to Tennessee and dropped down to north of Atlanta. We are at Harvest Moon in Adairsville GA. Another free laundry room. Believe me with this humidity it is needed.

June 16 1842

Down thru Mississippi to Red Bay Alabama to the Allegro Factory. We took the tour and watched them build from the base up. They are building 10 coaches per day. What we thought was going to be a simple paint job on our coach is much worse. The problem in not the paint but the fiberglass. They have to take our unit apart and put on a new side. They can't fit us in for 18 months and we have to leave it for over a month.

Down to Arkansas. We stayed 2 nights at Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River RV Park. A very nice park where you can sit in your RV or on the side of the river and watch the barges go by. Never did see a steamboat. We went across the river to Memphis to eat dry coated ribs. Yum.. Free laundry machines. That was a first.

Branson Belle

June 13

Branson is a very pretty place with lots of lakes. There are so many things to do. Sunday we went to the lake and to see the Branson Belle.

June 12

We took a trip down memory lane tonight. We went to see Liverpool Legends. 4 lads selected by Louise Harrison, George Harrison's sister to play the Beatles. There were screens on either side of the stage showing scenes of the real Beatles. The show was very good. John was just like the real John and Paul was left handed. Our seats were in the first row right at the stage. Louise was at the show and came on stage to answer questions. The sound was great and transported us back to the 60's.

Dixie Stampede

June 11

Branson is very humid. It is surrounded by lakes. We had a lazy day. Went to the outlet mall and then to Dixie Stampede by Dolly Parton. A great show with beautiful horses all about the battle of the north and south. The south won this time. The preshow was a juggler comic one of the best I have ever seen. If you ever come to this show bring money. The show was $90, $15 tip, $15 for sodas and popcorn for the preshow and $30 for the pictures. It was a good evening and a great dinner. A whole chicken, baked potato, corn on the cob, biscuit, pork, wonderful soup and an apple turnover. There is no flatware. You have to eat with your fingers.

June 10 1330

Tulsa to Branson. You would think that would be easy. It turned out to be hell day. The day you wonder why you have a RV. After our nightmare in Oregon 3 years ago, you would think we would not listen to the GPS. But, it said turn right and we did. 59 miles of small country roads that turned out not to be so bad but after Oregon it caused much worry that we would end up on a gravel one-way road with 40 feet plus the Aspen. Finally Branson. The roads were new and GPS again sent us to a dead end street. We had to take off the Aspen to turn the coach around. And of course Jon blew thru a stop light and left me not having a clue where I was. I made a wrong turn and had to backtrack but it seems that Jon had made a wrong turn and I found him on RT 65 just a few miles from Americas Best Campground. It is a great campground. I think Jon was afraid to ask me to cook. We ate at Peppercorns. An old restaurant but the food is wonderful.

June 9 1127

Texas to Oklahoma. By the way, the number by the date above is miles traveled from beginning of the trip. Oklahoma---cows, horses and farms. We stayed at Will Rogers Downs (RV park, casino and race track). Mulan loved the race horses.

June 8 715

New Mexico to Amarillo TX. We stayed at Overnite RV Park. We decided to have dinner at the Big Texan. You start seeing billboards in New Mexico. If you can eat a 72 oz steak within an hour, dinne (r is free. Jon whimped out with a 12 oz steak. I had the Six Flags of Texas (chicken, catfish, shrimp and spare ribs). Wonderful. It was interesting to find that Joey Chestnut held the record of eating the 72 oz in 8 min. Joey is the brother of a co-worker at the Travel Center.

June 7 347

Drove thru New Mexico. Spent the night at Sky City a casino RV Park outside ABQ. Site fee was $15 and they gave us a $10 slot credit. I won $80. A good night.

June 6

Packed up the Aspen and headed to Cottonwood to load the coach and spend the night.
