Ashville NC

My sister Pam was vacationing in Ashville with Gary and my niece Elizabeth. Teri, Jim and the three grandchildren were in a cabin next door. We decided to travel the hour and a half to go visit for the day. Finally rain in Ashville. Cooled things down for a minute.

Pigeon Forge

Kentucky to Tennesse 3769

Gatlinburg hasn't changed that much but Pigeon Forge certainly has. Not a good place to bring kids unless you want to spend a lot of money. With laser tag, mini golf, car race tracks, Dollywood, many theaters, there are just to many choices. It is no longer the beautiful restful place we used to visit. Even Titantic has come to town. It is very busy. Doesn't seem to be a lack of money but notice the House of God for sale.

Virginia to Kentucky 3478

Going to THE RALLY. Kentucky is beautiful. Louisville was a great location for the Rally. There were 3200 RV's and 4100 locals by car. It was very hot and humid but all classes, exhibits and all the new RV's were under one air-conditioned roof.

We saw Bob Newhart, Tanya Tucker, the Super Diamonds (a fantastic band who plays Neil Diamond songs) and a talent show.

The first day Jon had to go out for Skyline Chilli. Then the same evening we went out to White Castle. After a rough night with my stomach we went to Bardstown to visit Mal and Jean Worthington at their beautiful home and went to dinner. Mal talked me into a Grilled Kentucky Brown ( turkey over bread with bacon and smothered in cheese). I don't think I will ever eat again. It was very good but I am surprised I didn't have a heart attack right there.

Newport News VA

We took Hunter to visit the Virginia Living Center, a wonderful place with lots of animals for kids to see and touch.

Hunter

Hunter our grandson came to visit in Virginia. Aunt Sheri bought him a fishing pole and he touched his first crab.

This campground is great for families. The age is much younger here. There is a lot for kids to do.

WILLIAMSBURG

I love the small churches you find all over the countryside. This was a Lutheran church in Williamsburg.

Crepe Myrtle is a beautiful tree in many colors.

Wednesday the 7th we broke camp and drove to Virginia. We are staying at Chesapeake Bay a very nice campground. It is hot again and 50 amp to run both air conditioners of course is not on the water. We are only 25 minutes from Williamsburg and 85 miles from Fredericksburg.

We are exploring the small towns, Matthews being the first as it is the near the Bay.

Advance NC

Did I mention that the weather finally broke this week and it has been perfect? We have been able to sit outside most of the week. It has been great for long walks.

We found this old church sitting beside a hugh new church. Just tiny and charming in the country. Mocksville and Advance are only 15 - 20 miles from Winston-Salem.

MOCKSVILLE

A super little American town about 10 miles from the campground. I love the Americn flags up and down the streets.
